Melanie Passons is the Program Coordinator of the Rumsfeld Foundation in Washington, D.C. In this role she assists in coordinating the many activities of the Foundation, including its Graduate Fellowship Program and Central Asia-Caucasus Fellowship Program, as well as the Foundation’s grants for military charities. Before joining the Foundation in September 2015, Melanie served as a Research Assistant in the Of ce of former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld. Previously, she held internship positions with the U.S. Department of State in Belfast, Northern Ireland, the Heritage Foundation, and the Of ce of Congressman Marsha Blackburn. One of her most memorable life adventures was her semester study abroad in Swansea, Wales during her junior year of college. Melanie holds a M.A. in International Affairs from the George H.W. Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University and a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Tennessee. Melanie completed SLU 101 – 401 as well as our SLU China program as a student and has also come back and volunteered for several years on our SLU summer staff, serving at SLU 101, 201, 301, and 401.
