Maria is no stranger to the SLU programs. As a High School student, she had the wonderful privilege of attending 101-401. Those experiences showed her practical leadership and time-management skills as well as opening her eyes to the history of the world that is shaping her legacy as a disciple of Jesus.
A native Virginian, Maria graduated from Samford University in Birmingham, AL with a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre in 2008. She furthered her education by attending Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, CA. Maria completed course work through Fuller’s Brehm Center for Worship, Theology, and the Arts. The community at Fuller pushed Maria to think more about how the arts play a role in theology, the church and her personal sphere of influence.
Through all of these years of school, Maria ecstatically worked for FUGE Camps during the summers. She was a staffer from 2007-2012, two years as a Program Director, in wonderful places like Glorietta, New Mexico, Ridgecrest, NC, Jackson, TN, and Panama City Beach, Florida. While showing Maria summer after summer how important Christian community is, these summers also developed her passion for Student Ministry.
In 2011, Maria moved to Franklin, TN. Over the next 5 years, Maria worked for Rolling Hills Community Church and ClearView Baptist Church in Student Ministry. During that time in Middle Tennessee, her love of Southern BBQ and being outdoors grew exponentially! Maria also loves to travel with her parents and sisters, bathe in queso, and marathon watch episodes of Gilmore Girls.
